Thursday, December 23, 2004

Hello hello

Wow I can't believe tomorrow is Christmas Eve!!!! Where has the time gone??!!!

Haven't been doing much here, went Christmas shopping over the weekend both days. Pete's cousin Charmaine arrived on Saturday and left on Tuesday night to go to London to meet one of her friends and they're going on a tour across Europe - which seems cool but I'm glad I won't be on the bus for 12 days!!

I made my oatmeal carmelitas this morning, they turned out good, but theres only one pan so I'll have to make another batch later.

Guess I'll update more after Christmas - I put some pics on my MSN site if anyone wants to see them :) I'll add more after Christmas and New Years.

Hello darling ones :)

I arrived here on Tuesday at around 6:30am, and quickly went through immigration and baggage claim and then waited around a bit to find Pete. Around 7:30am I felt someone touching by back and turned around to see Pete :) We made it to his mum's car where we stuffed my 2 large suitcases in her Yaris and made our way home. We didn't do much on Tuesday or yesterday, Pete had the two days off work so we just relaxed and enjoyed being together. Last night I also helped Lin decorate the Christmas tree which I think turned out very well :) Pete got his new laptop yesterday in the post and its really lovely with a widescreen ;) I forgot to bring the CD for my camera so hopefully I can figure out a way to download pics either on this comp or on Tony's. As far as jetlag goes I'm doing pretty good, I finally got out of bed at 12:30pm today so I think I slept it off hopefully :)

Well not much else going on here, it feels like I never left ;)

Waiting to exhale....

Well I'M DONE !!!! After a very Hell-ish semester I took my last final, for PR, this afternoon :)

So I'm trying to get packed to leave tomorrow, my roommate left already. She didn't even leave me a note saying goodbye or have a good holiday or anything. I'm glad I didn't bother sending her a Christmas card.

I'll be in England in less than a week!!!!! Starting to get excited now :)

So a funny quote from yesterday...we ran out of TP and the RA's didn't have any as the delivery of it didn't come in so I asked my old roommate if she had any...

Old Roommate: No, we only have 2 rolls and 6 girls in there until Friday (she shares a bathroom with other rooms.)

Me: And the RA's don't have any either

Old Roommate: They don't?

Me: No. Its a pain in the @$$

Old roommate cracked up with laughter lol.

Hmm I'm not tired yet so I thought I'd update...

Things are starting to get crazy with finals, as if they haven't been crazy enough all semester. I was sick, again or still, for the last few days. Last night I started to get really dizzy and body literally forced me to go to bed at like 7:30pm so I got like 11 hours of sleep and then I couldn't sleep anymore. So I feel better.

Only 13 days, or like 12 and a matter of hours until I am in England again!! But first I have to make it through this time next week without my brain exploding lol.

Schedule for the next 7 days is as follows:

Thursday - Get Grammar Theory take home test #3. I will work on one essay per day to complete all 4 essays by Tuesday morning. Also - attend review session for Principles of Journalism - finish reading book and start studying for that as well.
If time - work on News and Feature Reporting indepth article due Monday.
If have more time - work on stuff for Literary Criticism due Tuesday - and sleep if possible.

Friday - Get up at a reasonably early hour and study some more/get stuff done. Go to work from 12:30-2:30 continue studying after that.

Saturday - study, study, study.

Sunday - much of the same

Monday - take N&FR final and turn in article
Study for Journalism, finish Grammar Theory test if needed, finish stuff for LC if needed. Sleep - if possible

Tuesday - Turn in LC stuff at 9am. Turning in GT test before 9:30am. Take Journalism final at 12pm.
Study for PR final...probably the worst one...

Wednesday - take PR final. Sell textbooks back and get only pennies for them. Pack some stuff. Sleep.

Thursday - work in mailroom to get as many hours in as possible to get paid.
Go home for a few days and back for England.

There you go, that's my life.

******************

Also wanted to mention that when I was home for Thanksgiving I went to 2 Targets (one regular, one Super). In the regular one I found Guylian seashells!!!!! And in the second I mini-Christmas crackers in the wine charm and box end cap on one of the aisles. Just thought I'd share! I bought the seashells (which are the best chocolate ever) but not the crackers - as am having proper ones with English Christmas :)

Okay better sleep while I have the time...

Hear Hear! (Got this from Katia's blog) LOVE IT!

To the citizens of the United States of America:

In the light of your failure to elect a proper President of the USA and thus to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective today. Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths and other territories. Except Utah, which she does not fancy. Your new prime minister (The Right Honourable Tony Blair, MP for the 97.85% of you who have until now been unaware that there is a world outside your borders) will appoint a minister for America without the need for further elections. Congress and the Senate will be disbanded. A questionnaire will be circulated next year to determine whether any of you noticed. To aid in the transition to a British Crown Dependency, the following rules are introduced with immediate effect:

1. You should look up "revocation" in the Oxford English Dictionary. Then look up "aluminium". Check the pronunciation guide. You will be amazed at just how wrongly you have been pronouncing it. The letter 'U' will be reinstated in words such as 'favour' and 'neighbour', skipping the letter 'U' is nothing more than laziness on your part. Likewise, you will learn to spell 'doughnut' without skipping half the letters. You will end your love affair with the letter 'Z' (pronounced 'zed' not 'zee') and the suffix "ize" will be replaced by the suffix "ise". You will learn that the suffix 'burgh is pronounced 'burra' e.g. Edinburgh. You are welcome to respell Pittsburgh as 'Pittsberg' if you can't cope with correct pronunciation. Generally, you should raise your vocabulary to acceptable levels. Look up "vocabulary". Using the same twenty seven words interspersed with filler noises such as "like" and "you know" is an unacceptable and inefficient form of communication. Look up "interspersed". There will be no more 'bleeps' in the Jerry Springer show. If you're not old enough to cope with bad language then you shouldn't have chat shows. When you learn to develop your vocabulary then you won't have to use bad language as often.

2. There is no such thing as "US English". We will let Microsoft know on your behalf. The Microsoft spell-checker will be adjusted to take account of the reinstated letter 'u' and the elimination of "-ize".

3. You should learn to distinguish the English and Australian accents. It really isn't that hard. English accents are not limited to Cockney, upper-class twit or Mancunian (Daphne in Frasier). You will also have to learn how to understand regional accents. Scottish dramas such as "Taggart" will no longer be broadcast with subtitles. While we're talking about regions, you must learn that there is no such place as Devonshire in England. The name of the county is "Devon". If you persist in calling it
Devonshire, all American States will become"shires" e.g. Texasshire, Floridashire, Louisianashire.

4. Hollywood will be required occasionally to cast English actors as the good guys. Hollywood will be required to cast English actors to play English characters. British sit-coms such as "Men Behaving Badly" or "Red Dwarf" will not be re-cast and watered down for a wishy-washy American audience who can't cope with the humour of occasional political incorrectness.

5. You should relearn your original national anthem, "God Save The Queen", but only after fully carrying out task 1. We would not want you to get confused and give up half way through.

6. You should stop playing American "football". There is only one kind of football. What you refer to as American "football" is not a very good game. The 2.15% of you who are aware that there is a world outside your borders may have noticed that no one else plays "American" football. You will no longer be allowed to play it, and should instead play proper football. Initially, it would be best if you played with the girls. It is a difficult game. Those of you brave enough will, in time, be allowed to play rugby (which is similar to American "football", but does not involve stopping for a rest every twenty seconds or wearing full Kevlar body armour like nancies). We are hoping to get together at least a US rugby sevens side by 2005. You should stop playing baseball. It is not reasonable to host an event called the 'World Series' for a game which is not played outside of America. Since only 2.15% of you are aware that there is a world beyond your borders, your error is understandable. Instead of baseball, you will be allowed to play a girls' game called "rounders" which is baseball without fancy team strip, oversized gloves, collector cards or hotdogs.

7. You will no longer be allowed to own or carry guns. You will no longer be allowed to own or carry anything more dangerous in public than a vegetable peeler. Because we don't believe you are sensible enough to handle potentially dangerous items, you will require a permit if you wish to carry a vegetable peeler in public.
8. July 4th is no longer a public holiday. November 2nd will be a new national holiday, but only in England. It will be called "Indecisive Day".

9. All American cars are hereby banned. They are cr*p and it is for your own good. When we show you German cars, you will understand what we mean. All road intersections will be replaced with roundabouts. You will start driving on the left with immediate effect. At the same time, you will go metric with immediate effect and without the benefit of conversion tables. Roundabouts and metrication will help you understand the British sense of humour.

10. You will learn to make real chips. Those things you call French fries are not real chips. Fries aren't even French; they are Belgian though 97.85% of you (including the guy who discovered fries while in Europe) are not aware of a country called Belgium. Those things you insist on calling potato chips are properly called "crisps". Real chips are thick cut and fried in animal fat. The traditional accompaniment to chips is beer which should be served warm and flat. Waitresses will be trained to be more aggressive with customers.
11. As a sign of penance 5 grams of sea salt per cup will be added to all tea made within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, this quantity to be doubled for tea made within the city of Boston itself.

12. The cold tasteless stuff you insist on calling beer, is not actually beer at all, it is lager. From November 1st only proper British Bitter will be referred to as "beer", and European brews of known and accepted provenance will be referred to as "Lager". The substances formerly known as "American Beer" will henceforth be referred to as "Near-Frozen Knat's Urine", with the exception of the product of the American Budweiser company whose product will be referred to as "Weak Near-Frozen Knat's Urine".This will allow true Budweiser (as manufactured for the last 1000 years in Pilsen, Czech Republic) to be sold without risk of confusion.

13. From December 1st the UK will harmonise petrol (or "Gasoline" as you will be permitted to keep calling it until April 1st 2005) prices with the former USA. The UK will harmonise its prices to those of the former USA and the Former USA will, in return, adopt UK petrol prices roughly $6/US gallon - get used to it).

14. You will learn to resolve personal issues without using guns, lawyers or therapists. The fact that you need so many lawyers and therapists shows that you're not adult enough to be independent. Guns should only be handled by adults. If you're not adult enough to sort things out without suing someone or speaking to a therapist then you're not grown up enough to handle a gun.

15. Please tell us who killed JFK. It's been driving us crazy. Tax collectors from Her Majesty's Government will be with you shortly to ensure the acquisition of all revenues due (backdated to 1776).

******************
And please don't tell me I'm being un-American :)
So...I guess since I have some time I should elaborate on the weekend...

Getting my car almost towed...

Well it all started when I got to Sara's apartment and we decided to try to find something to eat and then to go out and get her a new fish since her's recently died. So we went out and weren't out very long, maybe 2 hours at the most. We head back to her place and as we pull in the driveway she says "I wonder who's car is getting towed?" You know when for a split second you don't recognize your own car??! And then we both said some four letter words and I jumped out of the car to hear the tow truck guy say.."is this your vehicle?" No its not I just don't want you to tow it for now apparent reason!!! Ummm yeah its mine!!! As he was hoisting up the back tires to tow it away. He said that for $40 he wouldn't tow it, so we went to the ATM and got some money and came back. Turns out the management at Sara's apartment didn't tell them the rules were changing to tow anyone without a decal even on weekends 24/7 and of course she didn't get me a vistors pass because she didn't think they could tow me on a Friday night at 8pm Ahhhhh. So I had to go move my car to a parking garage and then get up early in the morning on Saturday and move it to the Target parking lot for the day before we went out to where Sara had to go to do her project and then to the movies.

Getting the boot unstuck....

Well we drove about an hour from G-ville to these marshes so Sara could get data from the water there. We went to 3 different sites and at the third site she got stuck in the mudd in her rubber suit she had to borrow from the uni to go into the marshes in. This is why she needed someone to come with her, to make sure she didn't get stuck and not be able to get out. So she was done with her data gathering and she was going to get out, when she discovered her boot was stuck in the mudd. So she got her foot out of the boot and we tried everything to get the boot un-stuck. Finally Sara managed to get it un-stuck with her bare hands after trying to use all the instruments that were around ie an old water bottle, an old beer bottle that was on the shore etc. But we both got our legs up to our knees pretty much covered in gross mudd.

*******************************

Anyway....the day after tomorrow is Thanksgiving!! I can't believe it!!! And in less than three weeks I will be in England!!! I'm finding it hard to get in the holiday season as its unusually hot her for this time of year - today is in the low 80's! UGH. But I need to get my cold weather stuff ready for England so the cold should put me in the spirit! I need a new pair of black gloves - as I lost one of mine the last time I was over in the winter. And I need a few new sweathers/jumpers, and Pete is buying me a new coat for Christmas so I won't have to wear my mom's coat the whole time I'm over, and I can also just leave my new one in England when I come back here. :)

I got my costume for the fancy dress/costume party on New Years. The only trouble is I can't get it zip up all the way :( So I'm trying to lose to weight to help that, but if not I think I'll just wear my button up black sweather over it to hid the unzipped zipper - I always have problems zipping up things because the middle of my back is unusually wide compared to the rest of me lol.

Nights of Lights...

Going over the Bridge of Lions into the city on the first day of Nights of Lights is usually breath taking...but this evening it was a let down - obviously like half of the city's xmas lights are out lol.

Well I had a good weekend, full of lots of funny stories to tell. Such activies included: almost getting my car towed, almost getting killed, getting a rubber boot out of very thick, dense mud, and seeing Bridget Jones Edge of Reason :) I give the movies a generous 3 out of 5 stars. It started off long, it was cute, and had some funny bits, but didn't have a lot to do with the second book besides the title. But I will see it again in England with Pete :) 3 Weeks from tomorrow night I'll be boarding the plane to go over there.

Measuring my life in coffee cups...or is it coffee spoons? Who can remember "J Alfred Proofrock (sp?)" when they have an article due at 2:30 and a 10 page paper due tomorrow at 8am ?

But my future mother-in-law made my day...after I received a very funny thank you card from her in response to the wine charms I sent her with Pete's anniversary package hehe. Speaking of anniversaries - our made up official "unofficial" anniversary was yesterday (6 Years) - it was the day we made up as our anniversary about 4 years ago because we don't remember when we actually met online. I'm a very bad (busy) fiancee and forgot to send Pete an ecard so I felt even worse when I got a lovely one from him last night. Only three weeks of insanity left and then I'll be okay. Well best get to work...

EDITED

Forgot to mention I got my new phone yesterday. It's so cool!!! And I also got my college ring at the ring ceremony which was nice.

Monday, November 15, 2004

Wow a month from today I'll be in ENGLAND!!!! YAY!!!!! Actually less than that ;)

Been super busy...and not too much going on, and what has been going on I don't feel like talking about. My eyes really hurt, I was in the library writing a 10 page paper for 5 hours straight - but only 2 and a half pages to go! yay! Its due on Tuesday so I'm going to try to get it down tonight, its only a rough draft but anyway.

Got in a fanlisting mood, put up a link to British Comedy and British men mmmmm. For the heck of it I google "Bill Clinton Fanlisting" and got one! Was tempted to join it but I won't lol. Then I found a "George W Bush and Tony Blair Fanlisting" definitely not joining that! I think you can sense my view on Bush and I don't really keep up with Blair.

Both Sides of Now

I'm on of those weird people that love the sountracks in movies. I got the Love Actually soundtrack over the summer...and this is one of my favorite songs on there:

Both Sides of Now - Joanie Mitchell

Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere, i've looked at cloud that way.
But now they only block the sun, they rain and snow on everyone.
So many things i would have done but clouds got in my way.

I've looked at clouds from both sides now,
From up and down, and still somehow
It's cloud illusions i recall.
I really don't know clouds at all.

Moons and junes and ferris wheels, the dizzy dancing way you feel
As every fairy tale comes real; i've looked at love that way.
But now it's just another show. you leave 'em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know, don't give yourself away.

I've looked at love from both sides now,
From give and take, and still somehow
It's love's illusions i recall.
I really don't know love at all.

Tears and fears and feeling proud to say "i love you" right out loud,
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds, i've looked at life that way.
But now old friends are acting strange, they shake their heads, they say
I've changed.
Something's lost but something's gained in living every day.

I've looked at life from both sides now,
From win and lose, and still somehow
It's life's illusions i recall.
I really don't know life at all.

It doesn't reflect my mood, I'm not all sulky at the moment but I've been meaning to blog about it so there it is lol.

Friday, November 05, 2004

Hello darling ones,

I started to blog yesterday I think but then I went to another page by accident and it erased. Well I'm not exactly happy about the election but it was predictable - during a War presidents are almost always re-elected. The only thing I'm glad about it that Bush will only be in office another 4 years, hopefully then maybe Hilary with run - sorry but I think she would be good. Then again I always did like the Clinton's lol.

The most exciting thing going on in my life is that the in-laws are doing a fancy dress (costume) party on New Years Eve so for the last few days I've been watching a cheerleader costume on ebay. If I get it I'll link to it, the bidding doesn't end until 10:30am tomorrow so hopefully I'll get it. There aren't any other bids on it at the moment.

Have to say I forgot to link to Expat Palette for the voting blinkie, sorry!

Well another school work weekend for me :( Oh well. Only 39 Days until I'm in England!!!!!!!!

Monday, November 01, 2004

So I did the deed, I went for the lesser of two evils, like I said to my mom, I don't really like either one of them but my dislike for the one is enough to vote for the other. I'm not sure if there will a change though. Other than that my Halloween has been uneventful, after waiting and hour and a half to vote, and having politicans come up to me and tell me why I should vote for them (local ones) I had enough trick or treating you can say lol. Then I went to a really good mexican restaurant with my mom and my uncle and his gf - "Mean Mexico" in NSB if anyone locally is interested. Its really good and pretty cheap! Finished 3 of 4 essays for Grammar Theory test, I think two of them are pretty crap but oh well. Its feezing in here, I think I'm going to watch Sleepy Hallow because its Halloween lol.

Plus I have something to do for a club with Parent's Weekend since its this weekend. And then on Sunday I'm going home to vote early and relax a little, but I be back here pretty early to finish up my test. Not much else to report really....my life is really boring.

You people are rubbish at clue games lol.

Yesterday I booked my flight to go to England for Christmas :) The prices are really cheap, got my ticket on Virgin Atlantic for $536.95. I paid $936.95 for my flight in June - but that's the busy season. So we're really happy! The big change is, and if any of you paid enough attention to my countdown you would have noticed that it is 4 days sooner, I'm arriving on the 14th of Dec at 6:55am (my usual flight) lol. Pete'll be working so Lin will pick me up. I'm not disappointed by that at all, it'll give me all day to unpack and shower and feel human before gets home :) I do feel bad that I'll miss my niece and nephew's birthday (Dec 17th) but they're only turning 2 and next year Pete'll probably be here for Christmas so we'll be able to be here with them when they turn 3 :)

Today has been SUPER BUSY. I have three things due in Literary Criticism tomorrow - Annotated Bibliography, Abstract, and my group is presenting on Foucault. Fun stuff.

Sunday, October 24, 2004

Something exciting is happening...can you tell what it is ? Theres a clue somewhere on this blog ;)

Saturday, October 23, 2004

I love amazon.com I really do. I saw a book at Barnes & Noble that I wanted to get for Pete for Christmas but it would have been $26 plus tax. I got it at amazon for $21 with shipping!! I hope he likes it, he's a fast reader but doesn't read often, but I thought this book was interesting....and I know he'll be interested as it's about one of his favorite TV shows...enough said I think.

What's up with Halloween candy being so expensive ? For a large bag of assorted Hershey's candy (Resses, Hersheys, Kit Kats, etc) Walmart wanted $8!!!! They did have 2 small bags on sale for $4 but that was a rip off! Not buying any until its closer to Halloween, because I'll just eat it. Plus I don't know if the kids from the School for the Deaf and Blind are coming this year. Maybe Big Lots has cheaper candy?

I feel really bad, my friend Tiffany's birthday was on the 5th of Oct and I haven't gotten around to sending her card out :( I didn't know her zip code, then I used my last stamp to send out a birthday card for my aunt! So tomorrow I need to get my butt to the post office to get stamps. Really sorry Tiff! This semester has been MAD BUSY.

Friday, October 22, 2004

How did I get roped into doing an article on tolerance for the school paper? Oh...yeah...I OFFERED ::banging head against the desk::

I think it sucks, but I have until tomorrow afternoon to have it in. I'm going to try to have it done by tomorrow morning so I can show it to the editor-in-cheif and see what she thinks.

Other than that I have to go to Walmart tonight, do laundry either tonight or tomorrow, and research my paper for literary criticism. Fun stuff.

Thanks to Jennie for commenting about HOW I can change my font color :)

PLEASE do not mention to me that I need to change it, I have gathered as much. And I will ASAP if it decides to actually work. Thank you.

*EDITED* - There can you see it now? Back to my real (very unexciting) life...

Wednesday, October 20, 2004

I just finished trying to read Bhaktin for Literary Criticism - about half way though the essay, the material is very dense and I highlighted about the whole thing.

My cousin Jess emailed me last Friday I think, she'll be in London from January 1st until the 4th so we'll probably meet up! We haven't seen each other since I was 7 and she was 14 so it should be interesting. Pete's cousin from Australia is coming for Christmas and he hasn't seen her since they were really young as well so it's a long-lost cousin meet up holiday season all around. PR midterm tomorrow, and a quiz in News and Feature Reporting. Fun fun. Then I have a midterm in Journalism on Thurs. I'm freezing so I'm going to bed.

Tuesday, October 19, 2004

Well on my powerbook the body font color changes when I put in the code to change it. But on a PC its the same. Can someone please look at my source code and figure out how I can lighten up the bloody body font color ??!!! Driving me crazy lol

Monday, October 18, 2004

So after trying to fix the font color a lot, I have now made the font for the posts white, if it's still where you can't read it I dunno what to tell you. I've found that it depends on your screen brightness so brighten up your screen if you want.

Today has been a long day. Pete's first day at work went well, and he got his package today so he was happy :) Seems as long as he gets 36 hours in a week (the work week in England, whereas over here its 40!) he can pretty much pick his hours so yay. That should be nice, maybe he can work it so he gets a day or two off when I'm over for Christmas. He said its funny how many people try to rip off the DSS (not sure what that stands for Department of Social Services? but the people who give out the money to unemployed people basically.) He said that this one guy wanted them to pay for the catering at a funeral he has to pay for or something ??!!! And another guy wanted them to pay for his cab fare on holiday, he went abroad on holiday on..A PLANE..even though he said he's afraid of public transportation. So he wanted them to pay for the cab fare because he couldn't get the public transport to the airport WTF??!!! Anyway.

I have a midterm and a quiz on Weds, and a mid-term on Thursday. Woohoo. I'm so happy. Yeah. Right.
Hmmm so the layout looked ok to me last night, but now the posts are under the left menu instead of being aligned with it. Hmph. I know the type is hard to read, I might try to lighten the font color, but I'm way too busy right now.

New template, finally got the comments working...

Its from BlogSkins for some reason I can't add that to the Credit section, but I might just be doing something stupid so I'll try again tomorrow.

So...I have news....

Today I called Pete, Lin answered the phone being all peppy as usual :)

So she said "I suppose you want to talk to my son right?" And I said, "Ah I suppose I'll have to" as I usually do. So then she said, "You've heard his news then?" But hadn't. So replied, "nope." Then Pete came on and told me his news.....

HE GOT A JOB!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

He had an interview last Thursday but I didn't want to jinx it by mentioning it on here, but a few people did now :)

So yay!!!!!!!!!!!!! We'll be able to be together for Christmas yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He starts on Monday, at the Job Centre doing office work :)

Maybe I should go look at flight prices? I think I have enough Virgin miles to upgrade to premium economy - oooo lala.

Ok because of some confusion I have a correction to make: My roommate doesn't have the making of "Bring It On" but she does have the dvd. She and her cheerleading buddies were practicing their dance in here last night for an hour and a half. Lovely. Ah.
My room has been cheerleader hell for the last hour. All I wanted was to relax and watch TV, and now I'm stuck in the making of the movie "Bring it On" which my roommate has - is that pathetic? Yes. Is it puke worthy - yup. God help me.

Sunday, October 10, 2004

Just added a Bridget Jones fanlist, or at least I'm trying to lol.
So what did I do today? Spent 5 hours at a computer screen in the library working on my Grammar Theory take home test. 5. Straight. Hours. My old roommate also has the class so we were in there together looking at tons of books and internet sources trying to do the 5 identification words (which took around 3 and a half hours) and started on the first essay. I didn't think I so very tired but as soon as I got back here to chat with Pete my eyes hurt really bad. So we only chatted about half an hour before I had to lay down. Then almost an hour later me and my old roommate went to go get something to eat, ended up walking around town then deciding to drive to TGI Fridays. Pete is going to be so jealous but I had a rack of ribs mmmmmmm. So good not to have to eat dining hall food!!! Anyway so tomorrow the library doesn't open until 2pm but in the morning I'm going work on an essay that's due on Monday, its just a 2 page thing. Then I have to finish my Grammar Theory test (due on Tues) and then work on an article that's due on Tuesday. The two main things I want to get done tomorrow are the essay for PR and the take home test, the article I can do on Monday evening or even if I have to in between my classes on Tuesday (but I want to get it done asap.) I really hate school, I need time to relax. My eyes are hurting again now, so I guess that's about it. I think my old roommate is coming over to my room again later and we're going to watch a movie and veg out and try not to think about the take home test!!!!

10 Commandments for College

Kinda sick, but ever so true unfortunately - well except for drinking and sleeping with people bits at least for me lol.

And so it begins....

I knew this semester was going to be a lot of work, but it didn't hit until this week I think because of all the hurricanes and craziness.

I have exactly one hour of "free time" then I'm off again to eat dinner, go to a club meeting, then maybe exercise, and then back to reading I have to do. Have a lot due on Thursday and a lot due next week. It sucks. And to add insult to that, I'm getting really pms-y and just had a really gross wave of exhausted/nauseous feeling come over me, and pains in my stomach. Great.

Yesterday evening I came back to school after working at the motel most of the weekend, so I didn't have a lot of time to relax but at least I made some money :) Well after I got back into town I tried to find a parking spot, and had to go over to the lot in back of the gym to find a space. Well I was stopped at a stop sign, waiting for the cars to pass so I could turn left - and a guy came up to my passenger side window. I guess I looked freaked out because the guy, who was around my age said "I didn't mean to scare you sweetie..." Ick. Don't call me "sweetie" - I don't know you and I don't even like people who know me calling me sweetie, or honey, or hun - I just don't. (If you know me and have called me this before don't feel bad to have used the term, I'm sure I would have told you if I minded that much.) So they guy who called me "sweetie" asked me to drive him closer to where he lived, which was near Walmart apparently. Because, his friend didn't come to pick him up from work, or he got out of work early or something. He might have been telling the truth, he did have a take-out box so maybe he worked at a restaurant? I dunno. But did I let him get in my car...ummmmm NO! Its one of those things that happens that makes you flash back in your head to every rape/murder/crime case you ever saw re-enacted on TV there you scream at the TV: "Don't let him get in your car!!! You don't know him!!!! Noooo!!!! Ahhhhh!!!!" Etc. So I didn't.

I've been thinking about that coat I blogged about, I went to both Targets at home this weekend and didn't find it, but then again its Oct in Florida so its not like it's exactly winter. They had a few trench coats and leather jackets out though but no proper coats, and they might not have them out until almost Christmas, or never. So I might order it online, I dunno. Going to see how it looks for me going over to England for Christmas, if that looks like its going to happen I'll probably get the coat, if not I'll wait until another time to get a new one. Fingers crossed though, things are looking hopeful, don't want to tell too much though or I might jinx it :)

I think that's about it....

OH! HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY TO TIFFANY FOR TOMORROW!!!!! Another friend of mine that is now legal :( I feel deprived lol.

Saturday, October 02, 2004

Woooohooo its October! Still hot here but not unbearable, maybe I should put my weather pixie back up? Anyway. I watched the debate on Thursday night, or at least an hour of it.If their one of them repeated themselves one more time I was going to break the TV. So we'll see how I feel about the other debates...domestic policy is the one I'm most interested in because foreign policy is pretty useless you're not doing anything in this country to improve it. ::cough:: Bush ::cough::

Anyway.....

I saw this coat and am thinking about getting it, need to try it on in the store though as I've only seen it online: Target black coat I really need a new coat especially if I'm going to England for Christmas (which is up in the air at the moment but we're hopeful.)

I knew theres something else I wanted to say but I can't think of it....

Well I'm not 100% sure if I want to graduate early, I still have to see if I'll be able to get all the classes. Even if I can I'm not sure if I want to cram all of them into 2 remaining semesters - it might be better to take the extra semester (still graduating on time) and take the classes I need spread out a bit more and take some extra classes if I have space. I dunno. I think we have to register for Spring classes sometime in October so I'll see my advisor then and see what he thinks. This growing up stuff comes on fast huh? I'm not sure if I like it lol.

PS - Pete has blogged about his first day on the course and stuff in general on his blog English Redneck so check it out :)
I had my career planning meeting with the career services guy here at the college.

He said with the number of credits I have I'll probably be able to graduate early, if I can get all the classes I need by December 2005. The only problem is some English classes I need might not be available to take until next spring, so I'll have to get a catalogue and see. It's pretty exciting/scary that I might be graduating early ;) I guess it would give me a few months to consentrate on the wedding and get a bit of work experience in before moving :) Wow suddenly everything feels like its coming into place....::gasp:: but I can't breathe too hard or it might all collapse.

Fingers crossed :)

discover what candy you are @ quiz me
So I bought these pepdobismal-colored socks at Target for $1. Who can beat it right? only a buck. And they have initials on them....The only problem is now that I look at them as they're on my feet, I wonder if it's a J or a cursive T in black lettering. Hmmmmmm if its a T I guess I could give them to Tony for Christmas - we have smiliar school girl no-show socks, why can't he have puke medicine pink socks for a change????

Here's a list of the movies I watched this weekend:

Thursday:

Love Actually - with Director's Commentary on.

Friday:

Sliding Doors - fell asleep about half way through it.

Saturday:

Laws of Attraction

4 Weddings and a Funeral - fell asleep again about half way through it.

Sunday:

4 Weddings and a Funeral - from where I fell asleep.

Bridget Jones Diary - again fell asleep half way through it.

I'm sick of movies, yet I feel compelled to watch another one hmmmmm. Probably won't - have two articles due tomorrow I have to proof read and stuff, plus reading to do. Great.

Sunday, September 26, 2004

So this is the latest tracking on Jeanne as of 11am EST. Looking good for us on the east coast of the state but not so good for the more western areas :( Pete's mum was all worried that I was okay earlier, which was nice I guess :) Been watching lots of movies and getting some work done. Dining hall opens for lunch soon so I'll go and eat again hopefully they'll have something decent. Hmmmm always a question I guess - but all I can do is hope lol.

Saturday, September 25, 2004

Mmmm propaganda! There's this "documentary" on TV, actually on the main station around here. It's for/about the NRA. Not that its blatant political propaganda but they're saying that the UN will be able to pass a rule or whatever taking away America's right to bare arms if the "political pendulum swings the wrong way." Hmmmmmm. Oh and then they have the commercial after it saying if you donate $45 to the NRA you get a cool NRA hat and a Homeland Security T-shirt. Now I'm not really against having guns, but I think all this "we're free so we should have guns" concept is a bit messed up. Whatever.

While I'm being political, let me tell you about a struggle I am having. I don't know whether or not I'm going to vote. I know I should blah blah blah. But it's totally the "pick the lesser of two evils" scenario. If there was a democrate that had actual opinions other than just everything the opposite of Bush, then I would vote for him. But sadly there is not. And neither Bush nor Kerry has convinced me that they should be president. So there. I have some time to figure it out but I dunno.

Okay done being political - in other news - I'm probably going to stay here now. The hurricane is looking like it will go a bit more west and actually pass right over G-ville where Sara is, so I said she could come stay with me if she wanted. But I'm not going anywhere probably. That being said the wind just kicked up and my window made another noise hmmm hope it'll be okay. Anyway that's about it for now, going to turn off the stupid TV and work on an article I have to do for Tuesday :)
In other news... I got this poster (without the frame around it) at the poster sale in the breezeway today. It looks good in the bathroom :)

Pete starts his computer course on Monday! He officially enrolled today, after calling on Thursday to see if he could do the assessment to enroll in the course. The instructor of the course ended up getting on the phone and doing the assessment with him :) She was impressed with his overall intelligence and the fact that he new the more difficult stuff on the assessment that scared others off. So proud of him :)

Friday, September 24, 2004

Classes are cancelled for Monday, the memo said that "if you have the means we suggest that you leave.." Hmph. The tracking still shows the whole state getting it. So if I drive an hour to the south is it really going to matter? I dunno. I can't get my mom on her cell phone or my dad at the motel on the main phone...

Update...got in touch with my mom after I left work (where I blogged) she said that I shouldn't come home bc at least there they have a generator if the power goes out and etc. I'm not sure what I'm going to do though - my good friend Sara said I could stay with her if I wanted to go over to G-ville. I'm not sure if I'm going to though, I'll see what the hurricane does over night and then see what happens. Doing laundry at the moment so at least either way I have clean clothes, always good. Got some really fattening but non-perishable food like crackers with cheese wiz and chocolate chip granola bars mmmmmm.
It's all getting very old....

So.....now Hurricane Jeanne looks like it's going to hit the state somewhere, though it might not be as strong as the others we've had. I dunno, and really I don't care. I'm becoming immune to hurricane tracking. In other news, I dunno what I'm doing over the weekend either. I have two articles due on Tuesday for my Principles of Journalism class and a quiz in News and Feature Reporting on Monday. But I haven't talked to Pete on the phone in a long time (well I think we've only talked on the phone twice since I've gotten back from there - both times bc of the hurricanes and for short periods of time.) So...yeah. I also need to get some stuff at home so I might go home tomorrow night and then come back sometime Saturday. Dunno. Ah my suction-cupped bathroom caddy thing fell again a minute ago with a crashing bang. Going to go attempt to put it back up again, if it falls one more time it's going to just go on the shower floor.

That's the extent of excitement in my life for now...god help me.

Gotta love Amazon!!!!!

I ordered this for Pete for our anniversary, it was released yesterday but I preordered it back on the 11th :) Well it was shipped yesterday and I just checked the tracking thing and it was received here today!! Yay! I'll have to pick it up in the mailroom tomorrow! I dunno I guess I'm just getting excited for no real reason :) By the way, thanks again to Gem for making a lovely personalized anniversary card for me to give to Pete!! I can't wait to see it and I'm sure we'll both love it!

Tuesday, September 21, 2004

Hmph I'm feeling lazy. My 9:30 am class was cancelled so I went to the library and read almost a chapter for that since I would have been in the class anyway during that time. Then I went to lunch with my old roommate, and now I just got some stuff out of my car so I don't want to do anything. After my first class (at 8am) I stopped at the table in the breezeway for college rings, and I paid for mine. Here it is if you're interested, I'm getting the ladies version (obviously) in 10K white gold. Charged like $340 onto my credit card but my mom says she'll pay for it and needless to say I won't be getting a lot of Christmas presents from my parents since they always buy me stuff ;) Oh well at least I have Pete's parents and grandparents, they love me and get my nice Christmas presents :) LOL. I sound like a spoiled brat, I'm really not.

Monday, September 20, 2004

So I found a few things I got at Target on their website:

I got this dress on clearence for $15 I think, it fits really nice :) And I got this chair, not on clearence. Sorry that was a bit short I was in class when I posted lol. Gotta love comps in classes :) Have work at the college newspaper in 10 mins, I work in the office I'm the "office manager" but I'm hoping to be able to do some editing and stuff eventually even though I don't have any real experience in it :)

Update - I also got these jeans though I just looked at them to make sure those were them and the size on them is two sizes bigger than what they hanger said but they fit. I think "junior's" cothing is getting smaller and smaller because I am not that big!!! Ahhhhh.
Well I don't have a lot of time, on the comp at the library but...

Hurricane Jeanne is now back to a Tropical Storm, but there is Hurricane Karl and Tropical Storm Lisa out there. None of which look like they're going to hit us thank god. Went home this weekend - the motel is a mess but isn't as bad as I expected but I didn't look a lot across the street where the roofs caved in. Went to the movies and to the Outback with Sara, and I made her buy a drink (I would have bought her one but I'm underage lol.) We swapped stories from the summer which was funny. :) She liked her presents so that was good too. Have an article due at 2pm and have class at one so I have to proofread the article and print it again - then I'm not looking at it anymore, hope it's decent. Then I have work in the school newspaper office for an hour. Went to Target yesterday and got a whole bunch of stuff that I'll link to later if I can find anything online :)

Thursday, September 16, 2004

Here is a good story about the damage that Hurricane (now Tropical Storm) Ivan made in the South, including the Panhandle of Fla. Ivan Story And now for Hurricane Jeanne....
Well on the hurricane front there is good news and bad news. The good news: Ivan's track is now probably going to miss Florida almost completely. The bad news: Tropical Storm Jeanne is on it's tail and her path seems to be consuming the whole state like Frances did. My future mother in law is now officially right about everything - the world is ending surely lol.

School work is now finally picking up and I feel unprepared, I guess it would help if I were reading stuff now instead of being on the internet but whatever. I really hate journalism, I know I don't want to be a reporter thats for sure. Now if only I could decide on what I really wanted to do. Ahhhhhhhh.

Tuesday, September 14, 2004

Hi again.

Hmmm what I have I done since Saturday? Saturday night my roommate came back, she wasn't suppose to be back til Monday morning but I guess she had a fight with her boyfriend - whatever. We really don't communicate all that much, I have tried but I think we're just on two different wavelengths as far as school and everything really since she's a second semester freshman and I'm a junior. Anyway. I talked to Sara on the phone for about an hour, which was really funny, and she admitted how stupid she was to turn down the request of my company on her birthday ;) We should be able to get something arranged for this weekend, which would be great.

In other news, I got locked out of my dorm room for about 2 and a half hours last night. What happened was I arranged with my old roommate Katrina, to work out with her. (I got her into WATP Express hehe.) So we did the 3 mile tape so I was gone for like 45 minutes. I told my roommate I was going to work out, and I assumed she knew that Katrina's room was right down the hall. And I didn't bother bring my keys - big mistake! So we finished the tape at like 7:45pm and I went back to my room to shower and stuff and then we were going to meet back up at 9pm to watch a movie. I went to my room, and it was LOCKED - "Noooooo!" I screamed in my head. So I went back to Katrina's room and we put the movie in early. By 10:30pm (with a few stops in the middle to go to Molly's and etc) the movie was over, so I went back to get into my room. SHE STILL WASN'T BACK!!!! So I decided to go downstairs and ask security to let me in my room. They called an RA who let me in and then I took a shower and went to bed around 11pm. My roommate still wasn't back when I fell asleep around 11:30 I guess. But she was back this morning - ahhhhhh. The moral of the story is: ALWAYS BRING YOUR KEYS. The end.

Sunday, September 12, 2004

Hello hello blog world.

Not to much to report on this end, had one day of classes (Thursday) but it seems like a lot more! Yesterday I went to my first publication workshop - pretty much a class that meets once a week to suppliment for the college newspaper. I have to say that I don't really think I like newspaper journalism, which is interesting considering that's the basis of my communications major. Whatever. I just want to get out of school and you can't really do much with an English degree so that's why I have two majors. But I like English much more, and today I spent the better part of the day reading Wuthering Heights, which was pretty good but I much prefer "Jane Eyre" if I have to pick a Bronte work to love.

My other consuming hobby is tracking hurricane Ivan, which is the 3rd hurricane that will effect the state in a little over a month - can I scream WTF????!!!!!!!! If this has taught me anything it is that.... when my future mother in law has a disguised preminition in the form of a starky comment... I should listen to her. If I did I would be well and safe in England, putting cushions on the lawn chairs and attending 1,000 BBQ's. But some people need to suffer through higher education, and one of those people is me. I'm not complaining, and I know I'm fortunate blah blah blah. But I need a break, I need to be more laid back, enjoying life - and for 6 weeks this summer I did just that.

Speaking of laid back people, my wonderful friend Sara is not one of them. Tomorrow is her 21st birthday, and instead of accepting my offer to come and see her all way over in G-ville at UF she is going to working out her brain all day. But apparently she had a great summer at her internship doing something with marine life. Don't ask me, she keeps promising to tell me all about it but alas has not thus far. We'll be doing something in celebration of her coming of age soon though hopefully.

I think that's all I have to say, oh Pete and I ordered each other's anniversary presents today. We're getting each other DVD Boxsets for our 6th anniversary as a couple. Geez has it been that long???!!!! Wow! But the DVD's don't come out until the 21st so we won't be sending packages until well into October I think ;)

Wednesday, September 08, 2004

Well I know I had trouble posting what I wrote earlier and how it has totally disappeared :(

The jist of it is:

The motel is pretty damaged - the sliding glass door and huge window in one 3 bedroom apartment on the ocean crashed in so thats a mess. On the other side of the street both roofs to 4 apartments caved in because of heavy rain.

My house and the motel, as well as my sister's house doesn't have power. My sister and the twins along with my brothers came to stay with me and my mom here at the college the night before last. I haven't had internet access in a few days so thats why I've been quiet. Classes have been cancelled since Friday but they start up again tomorrow. And that's about it ;)

Very long day off school.

Yesterday I didn't have school, but we spent the day driving to Georgia, then decided since there were no places to stay from the edge of Georgia all the way up to Atlanta, that we would go somewhere else in Florida. We were originally going to go to my uncle's house in Atlanta - but it would have taken about 9 hours to get there and back. Plus they said the whole of GA would have heavy rain for three days after the hurricane so we would have to go home in that. And it looks like since the hurricane is now going to miss the area my school is in (St Augustine) that I'll have classes on Monday. So we decided to turn back, after attempting to stay at a camp ground - which of course was closing yesterday afternoon because of the hurricane - we made our way back and hit Jacksonville around 6pm. We then decided for the $65 it would be to rent a room for one night (they didn't have any rooms for Sat night) we would be better off going back home. So yeah we were in the car for nearly 12 hours and ended up back home. So this morning my mom and I decided to come back to my school and stay (my brothers and dad didn't want to travel again.) So here we are - it's actually nice. Hopefully my house won't get flooded from ocean surges but other than that we should be okay. Fingers crossed. :)

Hurricane Update:

Well I'm home now, my school finally said that we could leave and classes tomorrow would be cancelled. Hmph too bad I only had a 1 hour publication workshop on Fridays. They also said that if you wanted to leave today then you wouldn't get bumped from your classes (they have a rule that if you miss the first day of class then you can get bumped from it and another person can have your spot if theres a waiting list to add that class.)

Anyway the car is all packed but we're not sure where we're going to go. Maybe just to my sister's for now to get away from the water. Then when we know more we'll take it from there. My brother in law said that the power company thinks its going to hit the south of Florida then go across or something.

That'll all the info I have for now, I'll let you all know more if I have accept to the internet later today and for the weekend but I'm not sure I will.

Two hurricanes in three weeks makes the prospect of moving to England very attractive! lol

Hurricane...again.

Yes Hurricane Frances is pretty much heading right towards the state of FL - have you seen the pictures - the whole state seems to be on its target. All schools in my county are closed, but I'm two counties north of them at my college - so we still might have classes tomorrow!! Ah. Either way I'm evacuating with the rest of the family, just heading north for as long as possible probably not more than a few days. Gotta love living here. ;)

New template

What does everyone think? (Guess I should put the comments back before anyone can comment on it really LOL.) I need to save the images to my own server, but right now I'm at the motel on AOL and I can't save the images as .gif's and the .jpg's are all blurry of course. I like the the template I had but the table widths were all weird no matter how much Sas tried to help me with them ;)

Got the little part for my car today so that's good, had to go to the Toyota dealership to order it so I got to see all the cars - very tempting but I have enough to pay off at the moment! I will make Pete jealous because I saw a MR2 Syder hehe.

Anyway that's about it for now, going to go put some stuff on the template.

Another day, another dollar. Actually strike that, I'm broke. I haven't made any $$ in a long time. Actually I haven't been out of the house a lot lately since I got back to FL - for a few reasons:

1) My car decided to screw itself up on the DAY I GOT BACK - great timing. I do love my little Tercel though, but it's getting old. Hopefully it will hold out for a year or two more because as I mentioned before I'm broke.

2) The hurricane decided to hit us so I was looking after my niece and nephew for a few days the week I got back.

3) And then I was really really sick all last week.

Now I just don't have a car, and my mom is at the motel sick with what I had. She went there last night to go to this motel dinner thing with my dad. So yeah, today I did nothing at home. I exercised, did 2 miles from the WATP Express 3 mile - I thought I was going to pass out. Guess it's not a good idea to start off with 2 miles of the more intense workout after being lazy for a few months and then being sick. Hmmm.

I've been watching BBC America a lot. Yay BBC America, I love it. But I have to say thay don't show the greatest stuff - its almost all Changing Rooms and House Rivals and other DIY shows. And just to be pathetic I watch the Weakest Link, yes I know. I recorded "Prime Suspect" on Monday night to see how it was. V. Good - not "Waking the Dead" but good ;)

Pete said something cute a little while ago. He went out for pizza with his friends for his friend's, Kate's, birthday. And he said "it felt weird eating pizza without you." We do love our pizza, and other junk foods. I think one of our hobbies is eating actually, which is okay for him as he is one of those terrible people with a super fast metabolism who never gains weight. But it is CRAP for me, hence the reason why I gained 10 lbs when I was there - 4 of which are gone woohoo.

I was going to post more, but I really can't be bothered.

Monday, August 23, 2004

Hi hi. Not much to report, feeling better finally! Spent all last week being sick - which is annoying. Today I went to the motel, then to the bank to order a new debit/atm card because I lost mine. Hmph. Then my mom and I went to this pizza place and ordered a large steak calzone - mmmmm. The thing was GIGANTIC. I wish I had a camera with me to take a pic of the massive calzone but alas I didn't. We ate about a quarter of it and took the rest back to my dad.

My mom also called my new roommate for me, and left a message on her machine for her to email me - so we'll see if I hear from her. I move into the dorms next Tues and classes start next Weds. Not too excited about it, but at least its something to do to pass the time. I'm taking mostly COM classes, and one English class - ah the life of a double major! I wonder how big my room is - hmmmm. I want to get one of those circular chairs but I dunno if there will be enough room. Being on the 3rd floor it'll probably be a shoebox. Ahhhhhh.

That's about it for now from here. I've been home from England for 2 weeks today - seems like SO much longer. Feeling a bit depressed/lonely/bored - oh well.

Hi blogville

Not too much to report from me recently. I have a cold, yes in August. Last week had to be the longest of my life! I got home on last Monday - and since then I haven't had a good night's sleep, been to the dentist, caught a really bad cold, survived through a hurricane, and have been taking care of my 19 month old niece and nephew. Needless to say I pine for the 6 weeks I had of total nothing-ness, drama-less bliss in England, being normal and enjoying my life. But now my throat hurts so bad I can't swallow without a lot of pain (it was worse until I took medicine,) and my ears feel like they're going to explode with fluid. Lovely.

By the way I got my room assignment and roommate's name and phone number for this year - my roommate is from Texas, and we're on the 3rd floor of the dorms!!! So I'm guessing the room is going to be as small, if not smaller than the one I had last year. But it will be an experience I guess. Next year I WILL have my OWN room if it kills me, seriously. I can't believe how fast time is moving though! In a few months it'll be 2005 and then I can say "I'm getting married next year!" Woohoo. And hopefully we'll set the date early next year so I'll have a more definite time than "May/June."

Today I had to drop my mom off at the doctor's at 8am, so I went to Target and Barnes and Noble until 10am when I had to pick her up again. I saw this book in BN: Getting Personal. The reviews aren't wonderful but it caught my eye. I might treat myself to it sometime, when I have some cash to spare. Oooo, speaking of cash I was pre-approved for another credit card, which I am going to take as it'll be good to build my credit woohoo. Have to be careful with it of course, but as everyone knows I'm as sensible as they come - especially with money!

After Hurricane

The sky on the night after the hurricane hit.

Sunday, August 15, 2004

Well as some of you might know the hurricane changed directions and hit Fort Myers in the south of the state before weakening a bit and heading straight for Orlando and then Daytona. The past 2 days have been very busy and hectic and I am VERY tired. My mom and I went to my sisters yesterday around noon time because she had to go into work at 1pm (she works for the power company, as does her husband) so we were there to watch the twins. We didn't think it would hit us and the worst that would happen would be thunder storms, but then it changed directions. Actually I think our area (central Florida) was lucky because it weakened and the damage is very patchy (some streets are bad and others aren't. Most of the damage is trees that have fallen because of rain and high winds. Some mobile home parks are very damaged, but basically all the counties' mobile home parks were asked to evacuate voluntarily.

My sister's houses still doesn't have power, along with most of the homes in her area. The motel regained power quickly after the winds, and our house also got power back early this afternoon. Pete called me at the motel this morning to make sure I was okay as he heard that the hurricane hit Orlando and Daytona ;) Very sweet of him, especially since he was at his cousins and had to go back home to call me :) Today we have been taking care of the twins and they finally went to bed a few mins ago! They are very hard work! And on top of everything, I have a cold/sinus thing that I got from my mom, who got it from my brother :( Just took some night time cold/flu medicine so I think that's kicking in :)

Going to go to sleep pretty soon! What a long two days!!

And now for some comic relief...

This Land
Just wanted to let everyone know we probably won't be affected a lot by the hurricane, it should be hitting the West coast of the state, and I'm on the East coast (Daytona Beach.) I know a few of my lovely online forum friends were worried (thanks Krissy and Gem) but I'll be fine ;) Just for the record, Pete was also worried until I told him it was hitting the west coast ;)

Hi hi blog world.

Feeling a bit more awake today, though I have been up since 4am again. Yesterday I was pretty tired all day but at 3pm it really hit me and decided to go to sleep for a little while. Normally I only sleep like that for an hour at the most, I woke up again around 4:40pm and got online to tell Pete I was going to go back to sleep. So I went back to sleep and didn't really wake up again until about 4am this morning!!! So I left overall about 11 hours and it was great. Its nearly 3pm and I don't feel that wave of sleepiness so thats good hehe.

I had a dentist appointment today - yipee. I was expecting them to give me a shot of novacain to numb my cavity up to fill it, but my dentist said the needle would hurt more than if they didn't (because the cavity was between two teeth on the top left.) So I was brave and it wasn't too bad. It's a bit sensitive but the assistant person said it would be so that's okay.

Later I'm going to my sister's house to see her and my niece and nephew! It seems like so much longer than 6 weeks since I've seen the babies :)

We got digital cable back so I have BBC America again!!! They're teasing me with the programme "Waking the Dead" being on their website and showing me clips of it for "Mystery Mondays" but it's not actually on their schedule at all :( Stupid BBCA grrr.

Oh and I added a countdown until Christmas on the bottom left menu :) That's about it for now...bye.

I changed the title of my blog because I'm heading home tomorrow :(

Yesterday we had yet another bbq, and today we're having the left overs from that, and then we're having a traditional roast dinner ;) mmmmmm. Lin even asked me what I wanted for pudding (dessert) and so we're having apple crumple mmmm. Then coffee and Guylian seashells I like (as they're in the fridge.) Needless to say I've gained about 10 lbs since I've been here! Ooops! Oh well!

We're going to the shops soon to get some chocolate for me to bring home mmmmmm.

New wedding Blog

I started a wedding blog to keep track of things more easily, I probably won't add more to it until I get home next week. http://julwedding.blogspot.com

A year ago today I left England to go back home :( I'm really glad I have almost an extra week on last year. I wish I could stay longer but I need to get back to get everything organized for college starting up again at the end of the month :( Feels like I just ended summer semester, that ended on June 18th only 10 days before I came here - so I spent most of my summer here which I guess is good :)

Decided to change the template a bit earlier ;) What do you think?

Happy weekend

Yesterday we went to see King Arthur in the cinema :) It was a pretty good film, and we both thought it was really interesting that they told the classic story in a different way etc. We went to Pizza Hut before the cinema and had a yummy stuffed crust hawaiian pizza mmmm. Walking to the nearest bus stop to the cinema we passed Pete's grandparent's house and Pete's granddad was mowing the lawn in front so we stopped and said hello to them ;) I guess since both sets of my grandparents always lived far away it seems really lovely to me to be able to be walking down the street and seeing Pete's like that :)

I think today the new gas BBQ is going to be christened ;) I've counted and I think I've been to something like 8 BBQ's in about 5 weeks hehe.

Time is passing by very fast which is depressing :( Though we're pretty much broke so we won't be doing much the whole of next week so it should pass by slowly :) Then on Monday around noon I fly home :( I'm waiting til I get home to change my blog layout because I know it'll make me depressed if I have to look at it when I'm in FL.

Hi blogging world

Been about a week since I've posted. Hmmmm. On Thursday we went bowling with Pete's friends Dan and Kate. It wasn't as fun as the first time we went with Kate and Carla, because Dan plays a lot so we all sucked compared to him ;) After bowling we went to Chili's for dinner where Pete's friend Nicky and her fiance met up with us. Of course the UK Chili's cramped our party of 6 into a table meant for 4 people so it was interesting trying to eat. Pete and I were both in the middle of two rows of 3 people so it was fun to try to eat our food properly. It was a laugh though.

On Saturday we went around to Pete's grandparents for another BBQ. Good family friends Josie and Pete were there with a set of their grandchildren so that was interesting, but we all had fun with the 3 kids all under of 5 years old ;) Pete was so cute with them and I took pics of him cuddling Aimee and Louis ;) Yesterday Pete's parents went out and bought a really cool gas BBQ so Pete helped Tony set it up and Lin and I watched them, which was entertainment enough.

We went shopping today and NEXT is having their summer sale so I got 2 tops and a present for my friend Sara (I'm not saying what as she might read this ;))

Well that's about it for now, I have to go peg up my towels so they will dry ;)

Very funny quote from the book I got today: "Olivia Joules and the Overactive Imagination" by Helen Fielding...

"She had seen her friends' older sisters, radiant and triumphant, flashing minuscule H. Samuel's solitaires on their engagement fingers, spending months obsessed with dresses, flowers, and event-planning, only to be found a couple of years later in the shopping centre, fat, broke and hassled, pushing prams through the rain, moaning about being hit, or belittled, or left. And she thought: Sod that."

Hi hi.

New blogger formatting fun stuff  Wakka Wakka

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Ours was pretty good, tis the season for BBQ's here in England, so we went to one that Tony's cousin was having on Saturday, and then we had on here yesterday.
                                                Barbeque
On Friday we were going to go to the movies as I said on here, but on Thursday night we were having dinner and talking and Tony wanted to see "The Day After Tomorrow" and I wasn't too interested in seeing it so we decided that Pete and Tony would go. On Friday I felt pretty crappy anyway with cramps so I stayed home and hung out with all the girls who came over for Lin's candle party. It was a lot of fun and Lin and I bonded a bit. She offered to get me a cute little blue elephant candle holder that she was getting as well off her commission from the party, I told her she didn't have to but she persisted hehe.

Then on Saturday at the BBQ we chatted a lot which was nice. When we all got home that night she checked the lottery and she won £450 !

                                                  Lottery

That was very exciting! Yesterday was fun, the couple next door and their little 3 and a 1/2 year old came over as well as Pete's grandparents. Pete was so cute with little Jordan, they ended up crawling in the garden attacking Tony with little suction cup guns. Spinning I'll have to upload the pics of them it was so cute!

Not too much planned this week, I'm cooking dinner I think tomorrow and Weds, as Lin won't be home until late. I'm going to be doing my chicken, ranch dressing, and pasta dish. But Tony doesn't eat pasta so I'll have to make him mash potatoes instead grrr  Dizzy

The dog we're sponsoring, Mojo ;)
Posted by Hello
I forgot to mention that Pete and I got a dog...well kind of ;) Today we started sponsoring Mojo from Dogs Trust. (He's the first one on the left on the 3rd page of dogs to sponsor) Pete's been talking about him all day, he really loves doggies and this is the next best thing to having his own again ;)
Hi hi blogging world.

Haven't posted in awhile :) On Monday we went to the Tower as I said we would. We were debating on waiting until Tuesday as it looked pretty gray but we decided just to go and make the most of it. We got to the Tower Hill underground stop around noon so we decided to get something to eat around there before going into the Tower. We first went to the KFC which is right across from it pretty much but it was really packed. We were going to go to Pizza Express but it really expensive, so we went to a new place called Wrap. I really recommend it if you see one around in London because the wraps are really good and cheap, it was about £7 for both of us.

The Tower of London was great as usual. We did the guided tour with the yeomen, which of course consisted of a lot of Americans, it felt weird to be around them because I felt like some sort of English/American half breed ;) We were there for almost 4 hours then decided to just walk around the area. We came across St. Katharine's Docks across from the Tower, and had Starbucks there. We were going to go to Picadilly and look around the shops but it was getting to rush hour so we thought we should get on the tube back to Liverpool Street. Of course there were more delays due to "incidents" (ie someone hurling themselves in front of the trains.) But we got home just in time for an in door BBQ with Pete's parents and a few of their friends which was a laugh. Forgot to mention that I got my nephew a red double decker bus to roll around in the Tower giftshop ;) We love the Tower so the gift shops were really tempting but we managed not to get anything, but I did get Pete a book on Japanese Armour for £5 in the Tower.

The rest of the week has been pretty quiet, today we went to Basildon to look around at Eastgate (which is a shopping mall pretty much.) They just opened an Asda Supercentre there; Asda is owned by Wal-Mart so it is freakishly bizarre how similar it is to Wal-Mart in there ;) I even found Reese's peanutbutter cups, but Pete didn't find any hershey's kisses or Twizzlers for him :( We did look at the kitchen appliances for when we get our own place and picked out a toaster, kettle, and George Foreman grill we like - going with our black and chrome color theme we have pretty much adopted from our fondue set and other things we have received ;)

Oooo, that reminds me, I forgot to mention that Pete's friend, Kate, got us a Tokoyo dinner set for us for an engagement present :) It has 2 sets of different size oriental style plates, bowls, and mugs ;) I'll have to take some of the set out to take a pic of ;)

Tomorrow we're going to the cinema to see "The Day After Tomorrow" which I'm not too bothered about seeing but Pete wants to see it and nothing else in the movies is any good so we might as well ;)

Again, not up to much around here. The weather has been pretty crappy, and we're broke so we're trying to make our limited amount of money go as far as possible.

On Thursday we went bowling with Pete's friends, Kate and Carla It was a lot of fun and since we've kept on saying that we have to go again. We went to Hollywood Bowl, and it was really cool; there was a cafe, bar and arcade in there. We played 3 games and Pete won the last one, and I only came in last twice lol. Yeah I suck. ;) On the way home with only place open to eat was KFC so we went in there around 10:45pm and they closed at 11pm so we ate quickly and Kate dropped us off at home.

Today is Pete's mum's birthday and of course they're out at a friend's celebrating

Tomorrow we're going to the Tower of London so that should be great, we've been there twice already and it never gets boring.

Hello

Been quiet around here :) If you didn't guess, Tony and Lin are Pete's parents :) The pic was taken at Pete's Aunt's BBQ on Saturday. The weather was actually a bit cool and Lin kept on making fun of me for having my coat on when I was outside on the patio ;)

Not too much going on here this week, Pete's parents are in Cornwall for a little holiday :) Yesterday we went to see Shrek 2 in the cinema, we just made the 1:30 show which was good because if we went to a later on we would have gotten caught more in the rain than we did. By the time we got to the highstreet on the bus it was pissing down (lovely slang there). We ran to Somerfield's to get some stuff for dinner, then ran to the taxi station. But we were still soaked anyway.

Shrek 2 was really good! Pete and I both think it's a lot better than the first :) There are a lot of big name actors for the voices, and some British actors in it as well. John Cleese is Princess Fiona's father and Jennifer Saunders is the Fairy Godmother hehe.

Umm that's about it for now on this end, Pete's mum's birthday is Sunday and we got her Sweet Home Alabama on DVD so she should like that :)

Also I put pics up on my msn group if anyone is interested. If your not a member just email me and I will approve you ;)

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYONE!!!

Romeo and Juliet

Yesterday we went to see Romeo and Juliet. We left the house about 11:45am and got on the train around noon. Good thing we gave ourselves some time to find the Globe again, because we forgot where it was from last summer when we went. We were walking towards Tower Bridge, so we got some pics of us there. Hehe.

We finally found the Globe after having to walk over to the other side of the Thames. By that time I was really thirsty and my feet were really hurting me (because I was stupid and wanted to wear my boots even though I knew my feet would hurt.) So we spent £2 on a glass of orange juice outside the theatre. We had good seats in the first level of the seating area pretty much in the middle. The only complaints we had that people that were seated on the inside of our row were late and the seating is on wooden benches and cramped anyway so we had to get up to let them pass. There was an intermission about half way through the play, as Pete stood to get up a woman in the opposite set of rows next to us tripped and fell down the wooden steps, hitting her head on the wood banister

They found a member of staff for her and we left to get out of the way, which I was happy about because it freaked me out and I felt really bad for her. She went unconscious, and they stupidly moved her before the pharametics arrived; but I guess it would be dangerous for her to stay there with the amount of people that were going to be around. Anyway, the second half was good, and I thought the ending was the best. The cast ended in a clapping dance thing like in A Knight's Tale.

After the play, we went to the gift shop and I got 4 postcards to send out, I took pics of the postcards with my camera to show online because I couldn't take pics inside the theatre. Then we went to Starbucks for some Caramel Macchiatos, and Pete got me a huge Starbucks England mug with Shakespeare on it.

It was around 5:45pm by the time we left Starbucks, so we decided to find a underground station and head home even though it was rush hour in London. It took us a long time to find Cannon Street station which was the one we had got off at to get there. There were delays on the District and Circle Line, which of course were the lines we needed to get back to Liverpool Street. So after a lot of we decided to go on next District line train that went to Algate East, then got the Hammersmith & City line to Liverpool Street. That will make some sense to anyone familiar with the underground system. After we got home, around 7:30pm, we ordered Dominos pizza and chatted with Lin and Tony.

BTW, today is Pete's 26th Birthday

So we're off to a BBQ this afternoon at Pete's Aunt's, which might be a traditional English BBQ indoors as it is suppose to rain later. That's about it for now.
